We Bought a House
Too much has happened in the last 30 days, and even more over the past 5, but I am currently sitting in my new office space in our new home and I couldn’t be happier! There are too many emotions and I’m too tired after a day of unpacking, but I’m trying to keep to my promise of posting something in this space at least once a month.
So here are the things from this week that I don’t want to forget…
We were supposed to close on Tuesday and due to the sellers not signing paperwork, we were postponed to Wednesday. Jack and I talked through all our options, but we knew we had to close on Wednesday otherwise we would be homeless on Friday.
Closing finally happened on Wednesday! And it was so great to finally have the keys.
Wednesday night as we were moving some things and having the house cleaned, the pipe from the water line to the refrigerator snapped. It resulted in our kitchen ‘flooding’ and pouring into the basement. We made our first call to our insurance company.
Thursday, the movers arrived for a rainy move day. What a long and tiring day, but we started to get settled, both physically in the space and mentally after the day before.
We turned in our apartment keys and because of the crazy week I didn’t have time to get sad. I will truly miss that apartment on Mooney Avenue though. It was beautiful and a perfect location.
Jack and I worked from our new set ups on Friday and tested out another local restaurant for dinner. The two restaurants we’ve eaten at thus far are both Italian, and I have a feeling I’m going to need to up my running mileage to keep up with the pasta and pizza I will consume while living here.
And now, here we are on Saturday. We’ve spent the day unpacking and getting settled and it finally feels like we aren’t swimming in boxes and things are finding a home.
There is plenty more to do and lots of fun house projects but I’m doing my best to take things slow and not get too caught up in perfection right now.
It’s going to be a ride but a fun one at that! We can’t wait!
